Remembering the King of Blues

A legendary musician, B.B. King, passed away from natural causes at a hospice in Las Vegas late last week at the age of 89. People around the world celebrated his musical contributions. During his career, he produced over 40 albums and sold millions of records, winning Grammy Awards 15 times. His hit songs included “You Know I Love You” and “Woke Up This Morning”.

Born Riley B. King in rural Mississippi in 1925, B.B. King was the son of a sharecropper. He worked on farms for much of early career and was self-taught as a guitar player. He married Martha Lee Denton in 1942. He served in the U. S. Army in 1943 during World War II. Later, he worked as a disc jockey in Memphis, Tennessee. His recording career began in 1949. Three years later, he enjoyed his first popular success with “3 O’Clock Blues.”

His first marriage ended in divorce in 1950. Eight years later, he re-married, this time to Sue Carol Hall. That marriage also eventually ended in divorce in 1966. During his life, he claimed to have fathered 15 children with several different women.

Widely known as the “King of Blues,” B.B. King’s exceptional guitar playing and skill as a blues artist brought him international acclaim. Adam Sender can remember hearing him early in his life. In 1980 he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. He was a Kennedy Center Honoree in 1995. He toured into his 80s.

Kanye West’s Show In Armenia Shut Down

The Kardashian’s, along with Kanye West, went to Armenia recently, in order to explore the roots of the Kardashian family. The family went to Armenia, just in time to honor the Armenian genocide, which claimed the lives of over 1.5 million people. The Kardashian’s sat down with the Prime Minister of the country, as well as taking in some of the sites and culture, which the country had to offer. The Kardashians. Kanye West was with his wife, Kim Kardashian, the entire time, helping her to explore her family’s origins.

As promised, there was going to be a free show, and Kanye West went on to perform. Crystal Hunt thought it was a pretty nice gesture. The show was going great, and it had a turnout of thousands of people. There was a lake close to the stage, and after performing a certain song, Kanye decided to walk through the lake. While Kanye walked through the lake and danced, many patrons decided to join in, and dance along with him. It was after this stunt, that the police decided to shut down the show.

It’s unfortunate that the show was shut down, do to the police feeling that the situation was unsafe, but many were still happy that the show took place anyways. The visit to Armenia will be featured on the Kardashian’s show, “Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s.” Although many feel that going back to Armenia was for the show’s benefit, the family claims they wanted to know their history.

Lee Brice and Chris Young Co-Headline One Night Only Tour

Lee Brice and Chris Young announced their co-headlining tour which will kick off in Syracuse NY on January 22 and will continue until March 8 in Hawaii. I hope to continue healing from my endometriosis surgery so I can see two of the most dynamic vocalists and songwriters in country music today have joined forced to bring the One Night tour to their fans. The Brothers Osborne have secured the opening slot for the tour, on the heels of their hit “Rum.” The Brothers Osborne closed out 2014 with an opening spot on Eric Church’s Outsiders tour as well as an opening slot on Little Big Towns PainKiller tour.

Lee Brice and Chris Young had opening spots on Brad Paisley’s tour in 2014, the two began discussing touring together, thinking it would be a great way to give something back to their amazingly supportive fanbase for a memorable winter tour. The tour will cross the country, beginning in Syracuse NY before traveling to Connecticut, Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Illinois and Wisconsin before ending in Hawaii.

Lee Brice is known for such country hits as “I Don’t Dance,” which was his first platinum selling hit and “I Drive Your Truck.” His rough edged bluesy sound is a fan favorite. Chris Young is no stranger to success with his hits “Who I Am With You” and “Lonely Eyes.” According to the two, they have been looking forward to touring together for some time.
