The competitive rowing team from Orange Coast College, an ambitious community college in Southern California, has its eyes on the 2017 American Collegiate Rowing Association National Championship Regatta in Georgia.
Team members have been practicing and honing their strength and unity skills in preparation of going head to head against more seasoned teams from four-year universities. Competitive rowing has strengthened students of Orange Coast College as athletes and helped prepare them in their academic and professional pursuits.
Lead by a Legacy
The rowing team’s assistant coach, Steve Morris, is an alumnus of OCC, and he has returned to help lead his former team to victory (Whiting, The Orange County Register). Morris’ passion for and experience with the competitive sport mesh with his understanding of the importance of cultivating the skills and work ethnic necessary to grasp the school’s 12th national win.
